Next Steps for Change is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering positive transformations in local communities. Their power is in connecting individuals who struggle with substance abuse to peer support in order to forge a path to recovery.
Peer support professionals have navigated their own recovery. It is through mutual understanding and respect that they are able to support those looking for help in their journey toward sobriety.
Known for innovative solutions and commitment to community, Cappella was Next Steps' ideal partner in helping bring their vision for their first-ever fundraiser to life! Together, we crafted an experience that was not only memorable but also deeply inspiring, uplifting, heart-felt, and authentically expressive of Next Steps' mission.
Cappella's two largest ballrooms, Cappella Ballroom and Stella Ballroom, were the backdrop to bring to life everything that Next Steps had in mind for their "Next Steps Night Out" fundraiser. From the decision on which doors to welcome guests to Cappella through, to the placement of the buffet tables, to the lineup of carnival games, raffles, and ticket tables, each choice was made with intention, ensuring that every last detail reflected Next Steps' values and goals.
Marketed as the theme of "Greatest Showmen," guests arrived in full dress, competing for the Best Costume award! In addition, the entire upper balcony of Stella Ballroom was lined with carnival games where enthusiastic volunteers kept energy high by cheering on guests's attempts to win tickets to participate in the raffle.
Upon arrival, guests checked in at Cappella's grand entrance and grabbed an NA cocktail from the bar. Themed mocktails stole the show that night! One, for example, was named, "Circus Peanut Parade Punch," and was a delightfully fizzy, fruity mocktail topped with a tuft of cotton candy and a circus peanut.
Once guests had a chance to mingle, be merry, and compare costumes, a delicious dinner buffet was displayed on Stella Ballroom's main floor: Chianti-Braised Chuck Roast with Caramelized Root Vegetables, Chianti-Braised Chuck Roast with Caramelized Root Vegetables, Garlic & Rosemary Baby Red Potatoes, and Haricot Vert with Citrus & Roasted Shallot. Bravo to Cappella's catering team for another job well done!
As for the purpose of the evening, Next Steps envisioned an event that functioned not only as a fundraiser, but as a platform for storytelling, where individuals could share their journey and impact of Next Steps' work. Deeply personal accounts of the struggle of substance abuse and road to sobriety were shared, and created an emotional connection that engaged attendees and prompted them to reflect on Next Steps' cause and the importance of their role in supporting it.

Themes of community, hope, and resilience were prominent throughout the evening. Next Steps' goal was to not only raise funds but also to elevate awareness about the critical issues vital to the organization, ultimately driving a movement towards lasting change. Our goal was to support Next Steps by creating an atmosphere that helped them achieve their goal.
